Description:

Patients: This Phase II study involved 56 patients with colon cancer (stage III).

Treatment: Treatment consisted of surgery followed autologous tumour cell vaccinations and the chemotherapy drugs 5-Fluorouracil (adrucil) and leucovorin.

Toxicity: One patient died of multiple organ failure resulting from the toxicity of 5-FU. In addition, thirty percent of patients experienced grade 3 or 4 toxicity including diarrhea, ileus, mucositis, nausea, vomiting, febrile neutropenia, and deep vein thrombosis.

Results: Overall survival was not discussed.
