Description:

Patients: This Phase I/II study involved 21 patients with metastatic colorectal cancer that had progressed (increase in tumor size or tumor spread) during or after 5-FU chemotherapy.

Treatment: The treatment consisted of two chemotherapy drugs – oxaliplatin (eloxatin) and topotecan (hycamtin).

Toxicity: Grade 4 toxicities included: thrombocytopenia and neutropenia. Other toxicities included paraesthesia (grade 1), diarrhea (grade 2-3), and mucositis (grade 3).

Results: The median progression-free survival was 5 months. Overall survival was not discussed.
