Description:

Patients: This Phase I study involved 21 patients with locally advanced or unresectable adenocarcinoma of the rectum and colon.

Treatment: Treatment consisted of the chemotherapy drugs eniluracil and 5-FU (adrucil) with radiotherapy followed by surgery.

Toxicity: Grade 3-4 toxicities included diarrhea and nausea. Grade 1-2 toxicities included vomiting, fatigue, anorexia, rectal pain, cystitis, hematologic, and hyperbilirubinemia.

Results: One patient achieved a complete response. Overall survival was not discussed.
