Description:

Patients: This study involved thirty-two women with recurrent metastatic breast cancer. The median age was 49 years, ranging from 33 to 64. All had received prior treatment with an anthracycline-containing chemotherapy regimen before being in this study.

Treatment: Patients were treated with the chemotherapy drugs docetaxel and epirubicin.

Toxicity: Grade 4 leukopenia was reported in 44.8% of patients, and grade 4 thrombocytopenia was reported in 10 patients (6.3%). Grade 3 leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, anemia, stomatitis/mucositis, and nausea/vomiting were also reported.

Results: The median overall survival was 41 months.
