Description:

Patients: This phase 2 study involved 49 women with metastatic breast cancer. The median age was 53.8 years, ranging from 32.5 to 70.7 years of age.

Treatment: Patients were treated with the chemotherapy drugs vinorelbine and docetaxel.

Toxicity: One patient died from hypovolemic shock due to dehydration. Grade 4 leucopenia was reported in seven patients, and grade 4 neutropenia was reported in twenty-five. Grade 4 fatigue, constipation, nausea, stomatitis, vomiting, and irregular menstrual cycles were also reported, each in one or two patients.

Results: The median overall survival was 33.2 months.
