Description:

Patients: This phase 2 study involved 50 patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer. There were 43 men and 7 women. Their median age was 63, ranging from 35 to 74 years of age.

Treatment: Patients were treated with the chemotherapy drugs S-1 and cisplatin and radiation therapy.

Toxicity: One patient with brain metastases and brain (cerebral) hemorrhaging died. There were two grade 4 toxicities, neutropenia and anemia. Grade 3 toxicities included leucopenia, neutropenia, febrile neutropenia (1 report), anemia, anorexia, fatigue and pneumonitis. Each of these were reported in less than 10% of patients.

Results: The median overall survival was 33.1 months.
